I currently play a Miraphone 188 CC that I bought used about a year and a half ago. It's a great all-purpose horn for a college musician. I use it in wind ensemble, brass ensemble, orchestra, brass quintet, and tuba quartet. The low end on my particular horn is wide open but also with a clear upper register. The flat 2+3 fifth valve rather than the flat 1 is another plus. If you find a good used one that you can afford, take it. I think they're solid, high quality horns and they're highly thought of by many well-respected tubists. Plus a really good used one can be very affordable for a college student.
