It's the fourth season the orchestra goes in the pit for the ballet and the conductor only questioned it this year in the dress rehearsal by smiling at me. I asked him about it and he said "it's been written like that, it must be right" So... this year I played the two bars in question respecfully as written crescendo E to fortissimo Eb. After the last show, I must say that the section was entertained. Maybe Tchai invented the saying: If you can't take a joke...
