This might be the site (from the makers of Pro-Oil):

One of the articles contained there:

who MIGHT be the manufacturer of Alisyn:

I swear, I've seen five or six kinds of valve oil declared as "best". I've begun to just use whatever is at hand.

About Alisyn, though -- yes, it lasts a long long time, but on the other hand, it does help the valves if they're oiled more frequently, washing out contaminants. Alisyn is not designed to be added frequently, so things like fine metal particles can eventually gather in the valve.

For freezing weather, I've had good luck with a mix of about 1/4 or less Al Cass and the rest Everclear (yes, the booze). The regular valve oil is there to make a thicker substance than just Everclear and keep it from evaporating as quickly as it would otherwise. It's not as pungent as kerosene, since Everclear is intended to be consumed anyway, and did not freeze at either the 2002 Winter Paralympics in Salt Lake City or every year at Homecoming in college (especially when the football team sucked, and we didn't touch our horns for twenty minutes at a time).
