I use a deep funnel cup with my Eb tubas and 3/4 BBb sousaphone. I've always liked the sound of a bright horn with a dark mouthpiece. A shallow cup might make the high notes easier, but I've discovered that the easier the high notes are the easier it is to overshoot the one you want.
