You are transferring skill sets to the euph. Take a group of individuals of the same level with no skills at all and fire off the starting pistol, I bet you won't see the euphist out front any more than any other instrument if you are judging in a way that takes all facets of musicianship into account.

I also wonder if your Bydlo was any different than the CSO's Michael Mulcahy I last heard. Although I think he's had more than 5 weeks....

My point? Skill is a relative thing. The sax is also an easy instrument to get rolling on, but I have heard very few players that have mastered the instrument and made music at the highest level.
