We just had our Holiday Extravaganza concert with the local symphony, and as it turns out, the best thing to fix a mental/physical slump in your playing is go play with a fairly good professional in a symphony concert and let him judge your playing, and then see what he thinks of your playing, rather than harshly judging yourself because of your fixable flaws. Generally, a positive experience such as this can help get you out of a rut and back on track towards better playing, unlike simply browbeating yourself for the small mistakes. Someone really enthusiastic about helping you advance in your playing and willing to give you lessons helps, too. I think I may finally be out of the rut that inspired the original "Reality Check" post. Thanks to everyone for their helpful suggestions in the original post.
