Still have my set of Eric Brand dent balls here.

For a cheap, functional dent eraser, try this:

Getcherself a few big (1 1/2" and 2" and 2 1/2") steel ball bearings and a big rare-earth magnet from Forcefield or one of the he-bay vendors. It'll set you back about 20-40 bones if you take some care in shopping around. Use a loose-leaf sheet protector to avoid scratches and stay away from really thin areas, like the bell stack. For moderate top-bow outside dents in school horns, it works fast and gives acceptable results. You can even take some of your Eric Brand dent balls and de-dent tuning slide crooks without taking them apart.

You can always get the fancy kit later.
