Dear curious,
Playing this note is the biginning of proper embrosure!
This note played in the open fingering is "unfakeable".
In short this changed My phisical approch and changed My
life.
To get down to this note try this exercise. First play
the first lower then BBb note that comes out of your horn-
regardless of the tone or the unnatural feel. It will most
likely be aproximetly DD. Then go down the cromatic scale
just like in the middle of the staff untill you are playing
a "false tone" BBb with 2nd and 3rd (it will be sharp). Then
after doing that a few times, take a bigger breath and when
you get to that note quickly slur to same note open.
All this assumes that a BBb didn't pop out on the first try.
As to playing the false tome with 1st and 3rd, this should
be a little flat and sound somewhat more in tune when played
loudly but just isn't a natural tome and therefore dosn't
promote the natural emborcure position that true peddel tones do.
When you get really good maybe you can try playing CCC on a CC
like I heard that incredible Tony Clemenets play a while back in
a residel. WOW.
Good luck and don't don't pass our durring the learnning prosess !
Hope this helps you
Brian "Goodgigs" Kane
