I have a silver Zeiss sitting here in my office. I generally like the horn. It plays well in the mid to upper register and is acceptable in the low range. My only dislike on the horn is the "clock" spring valves. They are not as fast as modern exposed springs. They are not too bad. For comparison, it plays almost exactly like an older Amati rotory tuba I bought in europe.

If the horn you are looking at is in good condition and can be had for under $1800 it is probably a worthwhile deal. For high school this would be a pretty good horn.
