I always thought tuba stands were for 6th graders. Now, I know better. I have been getting terrible tendonitis in my elbow and wrist as of late. I just figured out that it is directly related to the bad ergonomics (for me) of my new F tuba. I have since bought a deg stand and much of the problem is solved. I find it comical that I play my big PT6 on my lap, but use a stand to play my F tuba.
I am going to start encouraging students to consider using tuba stands.
