With all due respect, please do not be so bold as to state what dystonia is without any medical/neurological background. The numbers of players (on most any instrument) across the board from the most hailed virtuosos to the casual amateur who have been afflicted with this does not stand up to such a simple explanation of the issue. This organization was was founded in 2000 by professional French Horn player Glen Estrin (lead with Frank Sinatra, recorded with Chicago Symphony, etc.) and Steven Frucht, M.D., head neurologist at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in NYC. The group is dedicated to serving the special needs of musicians affected by task-specific focal distonia, particularly hand and embouchure distonias.
