I am a student at the Univ. of Nebraska and we are looking into getting new sousaphones for our line, finally after about 20 years. We tried out the Jupiter 4-valve when it was here for NMEA and found a few things that we didn't really like including: head space, even some of our smaller players hit their head on the bell screws, placement of 4-valve slide, I don't know how it works elsewhere but here that slide would be smashed within a week or two, lack of a few important braces, admitidly we are pretty hard on our horns but when you play as much as we do in as many places as we do it is going to take some abuse, there were some large spaces between braces that we all felt were pretty important to holding the horn together over time, there are other concerns as well that I can't remenber right now.
