For $2K, you can possibly find from various sources at any given time:

- maybe a pretty good condition 4V detachable bell King
- a big fat ol' detachable bell-front 4V Conn "short-action" tuba (bell-up would usually be several hundred higher)
- perhaps an old playable beat-up Mirafone 186
- a used Yamaha 321
- a NEW 4/4 4V Weril 980 (copy of 321)...actually usually about $2.5K
- some sort of Czech 4-rotor tuba (Cerveny, Amati, Sear, Zeiss, ...many names)
- old 4-piston ("7/8" size tuba) Conn, Olds, or Bach
- "late-comer" models (used 4V "7/8" size Jupiter, "5/4" size St. Petersburg, etc.)
- or...

...sometimes folks have some very good playing old B&S-made (East German) tall sort-of Mirafone-lookin' 4-rotor BBb's...either called Schneider, Weltklang, or other names.

Email me if you want any more info, but don't expect me to have one each of all of these tubas that I rattled off in the "often around $2K" range!
