...is all good, but do yourself a favor and GET A LESSON or two in the beginning, to make sure you aren't getting into any bad habits. Proper slide technique is unlike anything you do on a tuba. A check up lesson every month or two until you're well on your way isn't a bad idea, either. Then, go for it with ears, scales, etude books, and community bands.
