The model # of a horn like this in the 1938 King Catalogue is the 1215, (3 valve side action) and the 1216 (4-valve side action). The 1217 and 1218 were the 3-valve and 4-valve top action version of the same model. Both had a .687 bore and a 22" solid bell. The 1216 could be had with a case in lacquer for $297.00 with case-not bad even for depression days.

Don Butterfield did indeed play the 1215 and a student of mine owned a nice 1216. Interesting old 4/4 BBb tubas.
