After the valves and the bottom (normal) tuning slide, there are only two more bows and a bell on a YFB-822. Since this upper tuning slide is NOT the main upper bow, then this cannot be part of the main bugle, unless this is a CC tuba! (If this were part of the main bugle, then there would be one more upper and lower (smaller) bow, and a few more feet of tubing!)

I'm voting on it being a re-routed 4th valve, for improved low register intonation, on the fly.
