BOTH Rex and Mr. Jacobs played the Shost. 7th in Carnegie Hall (Rex "assisted"). I was at the concert.
And after the concert was over, Bernstein walked back to Mr. Jacobs, gave him a hug and a kiss and said, "Why are you retiring, you a**hole??!" Afterwards, Mr. Jacobs just laughed when he told me what had taken place on stage and said "Oh, I knew that he was just kidding......."
