I own a Meinl Weston 2145 and a Miraphone 188 CC tuba. Also, in the past I
have owned a Miraphone 186-5V CC tuba.

I would say that the Meinl Weston is the better brass quintet horn, and the
Miraphone 186 or 188 is a better tuba for orchestra and band.
However, in my experience, the Meinl Weston has a better high register which
is advantageous for certain orchestral pieces, such as the "Prelude to
Die Meistersinger" by Wagner and the "Hungarian March" from the "Damnation
of Faust" by Berlioz. The Meinl Weston 2145 would also be very suitable
as a pit orchestra tuba for many operas and ballets.
