Toby Hanks told me once, that you will have three books that are your bible. You will use them just about every day of your performing life:

Rochut (Bordogni) trombone etudes (as written, down one octave and down two octaves)
Remmington - Trombone Warm-ups - in the octave written and down one octave
Kopprasch - 60 Studies

To this I've added the Clarke Technical Studies for cornet.

Don't fall into the practice of admitting defeat on anything. We have a habit of taking all the things we think we can't do and locking them in a closet in our minds. Then we never go near that closet because our darkest fears live there. Unlock the closet and take each item, one at a time, and master it. Keep doing this until you can get rid of the closet. There are no limits - if you believe there are - change how you think or you'l never give yourself a chance to succeed.
