Thanks for the advice. The corks have been replaced, and the alignment marks seem to be where they belong. Since this happens sporadically, I suspect that perhaps there is wear in the valve body and/or casing. I will tinker with it. May father always said they ruined a good mechanic when they made me an accountant. The worst that can happen is that I get a good excuse to buy a new(er) horn!
