I found out about the 24" height restriction the hard way--my box measured 26". Finally settled on American West air freight. For a roughly 3000 mi trip (East coast to West coast), it runs about $130 for the oversize box insured and delivered to my door in 5 days. Not cheap by any means, but better than Fedex. And the bell stays on.
I've got an old NY Bach 18 small-shank mouthpiece that seems to work pretty well. Although if I hadn't had the mouthpiece already, I probably would have opted to install a different receiver rather than purchase (yet) another mouthpiece.
