Miraphone has apparently been making some 186s with a larger (188) leadpipe. The Tuba Exchange version is one such instrument. My 186 also has such a leadpipe. I'm using a PT-88 for orchestral work because it gives me a darker sound. For solos I use a Miraphone TU-27 "Rose Solo" model for a brighter more lively sound. For brass ensemble and other miscellaneous playing I recently purchased a Dillon Geib 3. All three are very consistent across my range with only the tone qualities varying between the 3. In fact, they all blow away the Miraphone TU-29 my horn came with.
