It's all in Song and Wind, which you should read. In a nutshell, Arnold Jacobs agreed to allow his York #1 to be shipped to Hirsbrunner in Switzerland to be measured, as part of the development of the Yorkbrunner. Apparently it was packed in nothing more than a cardboard box and was extensively damaged during shipping.
