A few thoughts that I don't think have been said yet....

Shouldn't a student "motivated" enough to pursue private instruction on their instrument be able to kep themselves "motivated?", not necessarily about marks, but for the love of the music?

Very little can be learned from positive (wow, sounds great today!) Feedback. Financially, and practically, doesn't it make more sense to demand as much constructive feedback as possible from your instructor? If you don't leave with things to think about ab=nd work on, then what's the point of wasting all that time and money. You know yourself when you play whether you played to the best of your ability of not. Take pride in what you do and you do and enjoy it and for some strange reason things will always fall into place.

I think I've said my piece.

Neil
