I still have not heard any undergraduate nail the Kraft Encounters. It always makes me wonder when I see a senior recital with a list of extremely difficult works on it, as to the quality of playing that is actually being achieved. I feel far to many tubist take advantage of the fact that in many musician's eyes the tuba is an obscure instrument and therefore take liberties with the actual accuracy of their own performance. To play an easy piece well is far more noble than to play a difficult piece poorly.
