You know good and well where the "outlying" bands are, and, by the way, the players in THOSE bands are outstanding, too. I was just trying to guess how many folks would be auditioning against our friend.

Now that the facts about your position are out of the way, here is another opinion: The Hindemith, I.M.O., is a bit "dry" without a (virtuoso) pianist to accompany...and I MEANT to use that tense of the word "accompany". I wholeheartedly approve of your other choice and advice.
