Hi Farah, this is an interesting topic of it's own ('course, Sean will get us both for not starting a new thread with it!)

I should tell you that my own feeling is much like that of the folks at your Church, namely that I should do things (at least for my own church) without pay, except that I tend to think that they should ask ahead of time if you will do it for free. And, of course, you then have a right to agree, decline, or negotiate. Another factor in the whole question is this: if a member worked on the computers, or the air conditioner, or babysat during worship, or drove the bus to youth camp, are they paid? At our Church, the answer is no; we all contribute to the church as our abilities allow. But if you are in a Church that DOES pay members for their professional services, you are certainly as entitled to pay as any other professional!
