Right you are. I suspect it made the BSO list because they performed and recorded the 6th during the season prior to the audition. Vinal Smith played the piece on his instrument of choice, his Kruspe F. It's rather amazing how much he could get out of that horn, it defied common wisdom, and Vinal Smith is perennially underrated in the world of tuba. Check out the Munch/BSO Daphnis & Chloe on RCA Living Stereo. Unfortunately the Leinsdorf/BSO Prokofiev 6th has yet to be issued on CD. Though I'm sure many of us wish they had waited for Chester. If it hasn't shown up at other audtions or concert programs, it merely proves my point that lazy conductors and complacent managers prefer a narrow focused accepted repertoire to forays into unkown commodities.
