Hey Folks -

I'm very pleased to let y'all know about the following opportunity this
summer.

I will be serving as part of the Brass Faculty for the FAME
(Foundation for Artistic and Musical Excellence) Festival and School
in Princeton, New Jersey (on the Princeton University campus).

In it's Sixth Season, the dates for this year's festival are 23 July
though 05 August.

The festival offers areas of study in Classical, Jazz, and
Composition. There are three divisions of study:

Professional Studies Division - for anyone 18 or older, with college
credits available. Recommended for serious participants.

Pre-college division - for people under 18 who can satisfy the
stringent audition requirements of the Professional Studies Division.

La Petit FAME - for folks between the ages of 8 and 15.

To learn more about FAME and everything it has to offer, visit
their web site at: http://www.famefestival.org

Of special note to brass players will be the Faculty Brass
Quintet that will be in residence the second week of the camp.
The quintet will consist of:

Fred Mills, trumpet - formerly of the Canadian Brass, now at UGA.
Paul Lindsay, trumpet - U.S. Navy Band, Washington Brass.
Dale Clevenger, horn - Principal Horn, Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
M. Dee Stewart, trombone - University of Indiana

and yours truly on tuba.

We will be giving Faculty BQ performances all week long.

The rest of the brass faculty will included:

Peter Landgren, horn - Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Pat Landolfi, tuba - New Jersey Symphony Orchestra.

Jazzers: The Jazz Faculty will include such folks as Delfeayo
Marsalis on trombone, and Jeff "Tain" Watts on drums.

I will be coaching chamber brass students, as well as working with
tuba students one on one, and coaching the low brass sections of the
large ensembles (bands and orchestras). In addition, I have also
been asked to teach a "General Studies" in music course, due to my
"sometimes not so classical" background ;-).

If you are interested in attending the camp, check out the web site
address above, or call FAME at 732.814.7381.

You may also e-mail FAME at nufame(AT)bigplanet.com for more information.

I also have some very nice, very thorough brochures that will answer
almost every question you could have. If you want me to mail you one,
send me your address.

Hope to see some of you there.

Later -

Kelly O.
