Well, I've been playing a brand new YCB-861 for about 4 months now, and I can tell you that it's a decent horn. I would personally not spend that amount of money on this horn (I like the Pt-6 much more), but regardless, it's a fine horn (this horn is being furnished by our school of music for me to use, and it's much better than my 4/4 Cerveny). The pitch is 100% managable with a few first valve slide movements, and a few lip ups and downs here and there. This horn is capable of producing a very large sound. It's an old Alexander copy, but it just doesn't have that same sound. My section mate has a wonderful old Alex, and in my opinion, there is no comparison between these two horns. His blows the Yamaha out of the water. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that the YCB-861 will do everything you need it do do, but It's not the best thing to happen to tubas since spit valves. Best of luck!
