When I do a solo concert or play in an ensemble, if someone
comes up to me to tell me, "i really liked that piece," i
feel really good. If they tell me, "Wow, you sounded really
good," i feel like I got in the way of the music sometimes.
If i'm auditioning and someone says the same, that's the
greatest compliment of all.

This is what happened while I was a student. I don't remember
the last time someone said I sounded great, apart from my
best friend who is in no doubt, biased. The best part
of the music, while playing in a group, is hearing all
of those wonderful sounds around you and knowing you're a
part of it.

It's like head banger music for classical musicians. It's
loud, had percussion (timpani), and you can feel the
vibrations in your chair. That's what I love about it.Farah
