I marched a 4/4 over the shoulder for 4 years in high school(an excellent corps style marching band) and enjoyed the sound(volume) and the flexibility; as opposed to a year of marching sousa in college which had ton of sound, but just couldn't do enough with it. I think its harder to march over the shoulder that sousa(easier to handle), but well worth it.
Also, playing an over the shoulder almost forces you to have a smoother roll-step...
Who can argue with 100+ corps?
