Versatile? Not very. The real question is do you really need a gigantic horn? If you are a student or are playing in a small to medium regional orchestra and/or a community band then the answer is probably "no". A lot of horns are bought because people want a huge tuba and are later sold because they find out that they didn't need it. Although many people who read this forum wouldn't believe it, there is such a thing as a horn that is too large.
