I just got through playing a brass ensemble concert which ended with Tomasi's Fanfare Liturges. May I just say DAMN that last movement is exhausting. Playing bar after bar of pianissimo on my dump-truck 6/4 was difficult enough, but then doing your best Jacobs impression with the final crescendo really wears you out mentally.
I love the tuba. It may not get as much interesting lit as the others, but sometimes it is so much fun that I get dizzy from the synergy of it all.
Just thought I'd share my mood.
