Sounds to me like a lot of the situations, I hear about here in California. Kids, whose parents have "given" them a great deal and they have no appreciation.
I try to make it a point NOT to lecture my kids about appreciation (you know, 10 miles to school in the snow), but allow them to help pay a portion of the cost.
My son wanted a new guitar. He paid for it himself. I must be on the right track.
Us old guys will just have to keep dreaming of owning a new top of the line horn and take our pride from playing well with our old horns.
