Most metals are only hazardous if they have a method of entry into the body. So essentially lead in fine unless you ingest it or breath it. Neither one of these is going to occur through normal use of the mouthpiece, especially since it is going to be plated. However, during the construction of these mouthpieces it is possible, during lathing, sanding etc., for the brass/lead to become airborne and breathed into the lungs. I personally doubt that any significant about of lead is likely to become airborne, but if you have any concerns a dusk mask designed to protect against airborne contaminants should be worn.
