David,

Sorry to hear about your unpleasant situation,
1) If your docs have already told you "cold sore,"
and you're following their recommended topical treatment
but still worried about it not working fast enough,
ask them about a full-spectrum that can be taken orally,
but remember most viruses don't really respond to treatment,
and that antibiotics really only inhibit secondary infection.
2) If your doctors/oral specialist has NOT diagnosed
your eruption as a "cold sore" it could be somethinfg else
(like "friend" suggested in a previous post.)
I had a similar malaise develop 14-15 months ago, fortunately
turned out to be a clogged saliva duct, and the swelling
subsided and doesn't return too often. Unfortunately
not taking PROMPT action has led to scarring
slightly and if it persists in bothering me (flairs up)
will have to be surgically removed. Think hard about comparing
any long-term risk with the importance of your audition.
3) f.w.i.w. L-Lysine is actually an amino acid (protein)
and not a mineral.

Hope this helped some, good luck with your audition,

Dale
