I spoke with my friend who has one of the compensating Willson Eb tubas and here is what he said:

The model number is 2927L (4 valve, compensating, in lacquer). He told me that he wanted to get a new one and couldn't find one anywhere. He was instructed to call the factory and see what they could do. They told him that if he sent them a US$10,000.00 payment, they would make him one and ship it to him. He asked what would happen if he didn't like it. They told him it was his whether he liked it or not. Apparently, the factory will still make these horns on an order only basis. They are not in standard production. My friend ended up getting his used in 1996 directly from DEG. They had an extra one laying around used and he played the horn, liked it, and then bought it from them.
