Nice try, but you can't just fluff this off.

It seems to me that you are staying away from the real subject of this thread because you have little understanding or appreciation of what is being discussed . I recommend that you talk to Matt Walters. Early in the thread he freely admits to making these changes. In fact, in the used tuba section of the Dillon website there is a Besson Eb where the description of the horn mentions removal of solder blobs and honing of slides. He wouldn't bother going to all that trouble if he thinks it "offered little or no help". It seems HE thinks it makes a big difference. It also stands to reason that, since no two players are alike, that something he likes might have the opposite effect on someone else. One would think the owner of the tuba deserves the final say in these matters.

At this point, these posts are really about your ego. You feel compelled to defend the honor of your profession, but shouldn't that include more than passing the blame to anyone but yourself? Even the most skilled artist makes an occasional error or lapse in judgement. It seems everyone understands that but you.

Your pride will dictate that you get the last word in, so continue to show your true colors. It's very entertaining.
