Actually, I use the aerosol in my shop because it doesn't have wax in the formula. The pump version does. I have been usung it on rentals and other horns for years without any peeling. I use an old T-shirt as a rag, and when it becomes too dirty (after about 3 weeks) start a new one.

Pledge does a great job of cleaning dried spit and hand grease off a lacquer horn. It also contains silicon which seems to protect the lacquer further. After all, it is a product designed to be used on finished surfaces like shellac, varnish and lacquer.
