Sometimes a rebuilt horn can be better then new. New horns do not always get the care when manufactured that a horn can get by an individual repairman. Things like care in soldering, alignment of slide tubes, placement of braces, handlapping of valves, etc. can receive a lot more care. With the need for manufacturers to turn a profit and to keep down production costs, the "good enough for the girls I go with" principle goes into effect. Whereas with the hourly rate usually charged by repairman, time can be taken to do things close to perfect.
