Hey, this is an interesting topic! At what point is a tuba converted and at what point is it just "cut"?

There are plenty of Yorks out there which have had the valve section and branches completely replaced to go from BBb to CC. Have these been converted or cut? What part of a tuba needs to be kept for it to be considered "cut" vs. converted.

When, after he died, someone took one of Fletch's legendary Besson Ebs and used just the bell and bottom bow to make an F out of it, was this a conversion or a cut (or would you call it an abomination)?
