Hi Ray!
Actually, I never made any oval mouthpieces, but I have used "wrap-around" rims for more than 35 years to help maintain contact at the sides of my mouth without creating pressure on the top and bottom. With my teeth I should have been a piano player. In recent years I have been using a doug elliot mouthpiece. He gave me some extra plastic to work with on the rim and I shaped it myself. It works for me. Too much curvature tends to mess up the low register, but a little bit of wrap-around really helps my high notes without affecting the low notes significantly.
I hope to see you at the Brass Conference.
