There is a relatively inexpensive way to create the atmosphere that Rick describes. First, find a bunch of carpet remnants that you can put on the floor. Don't cover the whole floor, just in patches to break up the large area. The next step is to locate several drapery tracks, and hang them along two adjacent walls. You can probably find some black velour scraps from a local theatre that will be big enough for your purposes, or locate some upholstry remnants. You might even find some mis-matched drapes at local second-hand or outlet stores. It doesn't realy matter what they look like, because they can be installed in such a way as to be easily placed/removed so that the room can easily be converted to and from your practice facility (5 - 15 min. set-up time), and the tracks give you the advantage of being able to adjust the acoustics somewhat.
