"How did a B&S F tuba sound, when played by Tony Kniffen?"

1. Fantastic!

2. The Yamaha YFB-621 had a "smaller", more focused sound. Perhaps you could say brighter, but I'd have to hear a side-by-side play-off myself to say for sure.

3. The "German F sound" (I assume this was a good example of it, as Tony said he spent a short period in Germany for some extensive study) that I heard was a full, melodic, singing, warm sound. There was some similarity, to my ears, to the sound Pat Sheridan achieves on his Besson Eb, surprisingly enough. Not the same, but some similar characteristics. (Your ears may vary.)

4. We need someone on the BBS to recommend a recording -- who has a CD out that provides a good example of this?

Good luck,

Steve Inman
