Listen to someone like Bill Watrous, the jazz trombonist. Although he usually uses his multiphonics during a "break" from the rest of the song, as in no rythym section, he sometimes applies the technique to his normal solors. I played with him about 2 years ago and it's amazing, as in how consistent his pitch is while using and while NOT using multiphonics. Granted, it's on a trombone and it's different to do multiphonics, even EASIER, even for a tubist like me, on that instrument. He also has a lot of pedagogical material out, such as his "Trombonisms" book which would probably cover his technique of multiphonics extensively. Have fun!
