Go see Charlie at Brook Mays - isn't that in Dallas? If you like percussion instruments (I do), go to Lone Star percussion. They're probably the largest percussion outlet in the U.S. Go buy yourself a big Wuhan tam-tam, and bring it to orchestra rehearsals. You're pecussionists will love you for it. Makes a great dinner bell, too.
Seriously, see if there isn't a Dallas Symphony concert going on. Meyerson Hall is fabulous. I saw the Mahler 8th there. Also, drive into Ft. Worth and spend some time there.
