I'm not sure people are aware of the things currently going on at Maryland. If you do indeed live on the east coast and are looking for a school that goes BEYOND marching band, Maryland may indeed be the choice of the future. It definitely has had its ugly years (especially after Brian Bowman left), but is definitely on the up and up, much like Penn State. But I must say, Maryland's newfound donors have made quite an amazing diffence in the school...especially it's facilities...the brand new school and halls are simply amazing! No shortcuts taken and only the finest materials used. Then there's the up and coming faculty. They just hired a new orchestra conductor (also just like Penn State) and will be adding more and more big named, adjunct faculty every day, it seems. They have been fairly disorganized in the past, but new leadership there definitely seems to be creating some interesting developments!

P.S. John Stevens is also an EXCELLENT pedagogue, musicain, and composer. Check out the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison!
