Rick has reminded me of growing up in Texas and the music. Thinking back on it, I really didn't know too many people who liked Country OR Western. There were a lot of good local rock bands and some very good folk musicians.
My mother's best friend was the grandmother of Dusty Hill's (ZZ Top) ex-wife. My mother's friend lived with them for a while. It was very strange having my then 70+ year old mother phone me and tell me about having dinner with, etc. with ZZ Top.
