On the new ones this is the similarities.
Leadpipe is the same, period end of discussion. if you order a replacement you the same leadpipe. the bell is the same diameter too.
the bore is the same
Here is the differences
the wrap is rounder and shorter and wider on the 188
after the tubing leaves the main tuning slide, the 188 gets bigger faster and is bigger thourought the whole instrument all the way to the bell
the bell throat is therefore alot bigger as well
This gives it a darker, bigger fuller sound and able to take more volume and makes it a better all around tuba but of course at a higher price.
the better of the 186 CC's tubs is actually the S series and it is cheaper.
